Smart C&D winner (can carry head awkwardly) who produced a taking performance to land last season's Coral Sprint Trophy at York (good-to-soft). Hasn't had his conditions either start since an eye-catching reappearance second. Well treated on that form and very likely to have a big pot in him.

Well held in last year's renewal of this race. Rejuvenated by the application of a visor this summer, scoring under a confident ride at Glorious Goodwood (5f) and only narrowly denied a hat-trick when ½-length second in the Portland at Doncaster last time. Thriving, though 5f perhaps his optimum.

Returns to Ayr for first time since breaking his maiden over C&D in 2024. Since developed into a smart handicapper, narrowly denied a double in the Stewards' Cup before a very creditable 1½-length sixth in a strong York handicap last time. Consistent sort who makes each-way appeal here.

Improving sprinter has been another success story for his excellent yard (21 lb higher than his win on handicap/stable debut last June). Went agonisingly close in a York handicap that's working out extremely well last time, beating several of today's rivals. One to be feared off an unchanged mark.

Has made impressive progress this year, overcoming less-than-ideal circumstances to win pair of 7f handicaps at Chester. Travelled smoothly when 1¼-length fourth (behind Far Above Dream) in the Constantine last time. Still unexposed as a sprinter and big claims if the worst of the rain stays away.

Successful in last year's renewal of this race off a 5 lb lower mark. Still potentially well treated on the pick of his efforts season, though, and best not judged too harshly on his latest run in the Stewards Cup off a quick turnaround. Interesting if change of headgear has the desired effect.

Poorly placed in this corresponding event 12 months ago. Justified strong support to see off Ardisia by a length at Goodwood last time. The ground will hold no fears for him, however, he probably needs a fair bit more to defy a 5-lb penalty.

Ground-versatile sort who won handicaps at the Curragh/Navan prior to finishing third in a 6f listed event at the Curragh in late-June. Below his best both starts since and first-time blinkers will need spark significant improvement on return to a handicap.

In-form 4-y-o who was held by Tuco Salamanca at Newcastle prior to finishing 4¼ lengths fourth in a Newmarket listed race last time. Unlikely to have enough in hand to win a race of this nature.

Progressive sprinter. Had done most of his winning on the all-weather prior to a career-best success in an Ascot handicap on Shergar Cup day last time, settling things with a good turn of foot on first start over 5f. Needs more again off 6 lb higher in a deeper race, though.

Had some strong form prior to getting back on the up with success in the Stewards' Cup last month. Greater emphasis on stamina told when fading into fifth (narrowly behind Dance In The Storm) in strong renewal of the Constantine at York (good to soft) since. May again find a few too strong.

Better than ever when successful on reappearance at Doncaster (6f, heavy) in March. Wasted no time getting back to his best when only beaten 1½ lengths in strong handicap at York last time. Closely matched with Far Above Dream/Dance In The Storm on that form and gets the nod from James Doyle here.

Multiple listed/Group 3 winner who came good around this time last year. Travelled well before lack of a recent run told in listed event at York (6f) latest. Cheekpieces on for only second time in his career and forecast rain will only benefit his chances on first handicap start since spring 2023.

Smart sprinter who did all he could from a less-than-ideal position when seventh in this corresponding event 12 months ago. This a more realistic than his assignment in the Group 1 Sprint Cup last time, though probably too high in the weights to win such a competitive handicap.

Returns to a handicap for first time since valuable Challenge Cup success at Ascot in 2024. Plenty of creditable efforts in listed/Group 3 company since, however, arrives on the back of a rare poor effort in Group 2 Park Stakes last week (excellent record fresh prior to that).

Versatile, useful type who notched a fourth career 7f victory at Haydock last month. Ran at least as well in defeat when 3 lengths third at Goodwood (7f) since. Probably falls short pitched into a very competitive sprint event here. First-time tongue strap added.

Went with plenty of enthusiasm when an impressive winner of the Silver Cup here last year. However, has looked one with problems this season and hard to be confident that the addition of a first-time hood will spark a full-scale revival.
